Written by: Yesenia Hanif, Marketing Head and Anna Xasanidou, Schlachte Method Certified Instructor

You can be certified in teaching the Schlachte Method today! The wonderful Anna Xasanidou has already been certified and is helping teach students in Greece. We are so happy to see the impact the Schlachte Method can have on student’s lives. Read below an interview we had with Anna about her experience becoming certified!

1. Can you tell me about yourself (name, professional experience, how you got interested in dance)?

“Hello! My name is Anna, I’m from Greece and I’m 24 years old. I’m a special educator and a  professional dancer. I’ve studied in the University of Macedonia and got my degree in special  education and I’ve taken my modern dance and ballet degrees in the exams of Imperial  Society of Teachers of Dancing and of Royal Academy of Dance respectively, started at the age of 5.”

2. How did you find the whole certification process, given that it was virtual?

“The whole virtual process in the certification in the Schlachte Method was simply amazing. I  loved the fact that even though the distance was enormous, the feeling was just like I was  there with Miss Bonnie and all the kids. Zoom meetings gave us the opportunity to zero the  distance and dance together like there was no barrier.”

3. Why did you decide to be certified in the Schlachte Method?

“I decided to be certified in the Method because the moment I found out its existence, I felt  that that was the domain I want to be occupied with in my life. Take as a given the fact that I  studied special education as a student and dance since I was a child, I figured that this method was companying my two different areas in one.”

4. How did you hear about us?

“I heard about the method via internet because as I was in college and first started to be  occupied with kids with disabilities, I was making a huge investigation about what there is  out there about this domain. And while I was spending days and days searching, the method  just popped out.”

5. What was your favorite part about learning this method

“My favorite part during all the learning was my participation in the actual lessons, because it  gave me the true feeling of what I will experience later with my own students. Of course, the  curriculum reading and the essay making gave me a more theoretical aspect. Both of them, were equally important to me.”

6. How do you think this method is unique from any other out there?

“The Method could definitely be characterized as unique since anything else which I  personally searched is considered as in an early stage. But the Method, not only is 100%  organized and programmed, has so many benefits that I couldn’t even imagine. It’s truly  unbelievable how much it helps the kids in all the real life routines and not just during the  lesson, but in a more generalized way.”

7. Are there any changes you would like to see made to the virtual certification process that you think would improve the experience?

“I wouldn’t change anything at all in my certification process. It was way beyond my  ambitions. The lessons, the learning, the supervisions were just excellent.”

“Thank you so much for everything!” -Anna Xasanidou
